It's always interesting to view life through a child's eyes. For instance, when I asked Edie, back in July, what Mummy did for a job, she answered 'cauliflower'. She also said that I wasn't very good at 'eating paper' and when asked how old she thought I was she answered 'Don't know. Three?'. Like I said, it is, erm, interesting to see life from the point of view of a child.
So when I was tagged by MuddynoSugar at How I like My Coffee in the Picture Perfect Meme, I was eager, if not a tad anxious, to see how my children would draw me.
But I needn't have worried. I mean, look, I'm a Princess!
By Renée, aged 5.
But, um, she didn't stop there. Unfortunately, I am no longer a Princess, but what I can only presume is a slightly mad woman with a cat, or is it a blackbird?
By Renée, aged 5.
And, well, the pretence of being a Princess has unfortunately worn off good and proper in Edie's attempt. I can kind of detect a head and two legs though...
By Edie, aged 2.
And in an attempt to rescue my dignity, a family portrait. Note, that Mummy is, er, rather large and Papa, is, er, not...

Aww you are beautiful!! I especially like that you seem to have wings in the top on and obviously favour electric blue lipstick.
ReplyDeleteYour clever girls xxx
The first picture looks like the kind of thing Victoria Beckham would produce for one of her designs... not to knock it, it's beautiful! Lovely drawings. I still have a picture No 1 Son drew of me with Andrew-Marr style arms (probably symbolic?) will have to try and dig out.
ReplyDeleteAs I was dancing round the kitchen yesterday Lucy (aged 2) told me I could be a dancer when I grow up. I was really pleased but also a bit sad as I will never be a dancer. x
ReplyDeleteDid you know children that age normally draw mummy bigger? It is something to do with Mum normally being the largest part of their lives, thus most important, thus the biggest.
ReplyDeleteGlorious pictures - you must treasure and keep these.
Gorgeous pictures, all of them. The last one in particular is especially brilliant and deserves to be framed and placed in a position of honour. Or even, as you've done here, as a montage...showing you starting out in life as a Princess and then progressing to living Happily Ever After! Xxx
ReplyDeleteLove the one with the catbird. Your makeup is rather... interesting.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - and you clearly have lovely hair as it features in all the pictures. And how talented of you to be leading the family in a group dance that would not look out of place on Strictly!!
ReplyDeleteFab! I asked Charlie to draw me the other day and we got a line which was then splotted with various different colours in no particular order.
ReplyDeleteI am apparently my son's own rorshach test. Spelling?
These are great! I'm going to have to join in one day. I actually like this meme. I love the colours!
ReplyDeleteHello Princess! What great pics... I love them all! I finally got SC to do hers...posting it tomorrow. It's a great meme... good old Tara! p.s. Where did you get that fab princess gown? I want one! xx
ReplyDeleteawww how lovely
ReplyDeleteHaha! Love the pictures. Especially the one with the cat - what is that about?! Definitely budding artists.
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures. Such a princess! What a dress!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving this meme, think the pictures are great.
Public and well-deserved thanks to you over at mine xxx
ReplyDeleteThose are precious -- make sure you keep them to look back on.
ReplyDeleteThat picture of you by Edie - well, that's exactly how I feel.
ReplyDeletePrecious - put them somewhere safe. xx
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love the family portrait best!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! I used to teach dance classes and swim classes to little kids, and I'd always ask them how old they thought I was. They routinely answered either 4 (because they were 3, and I was bigger than them) or 100 (because I was *much* bigger than them)!!
ReplyDeleteAnd you're not a princess, you're a QUEEN! Claim that royal crown!

Love it! Your girls are so interesting. I can't wait for my boys to start drawing recognizable things.
ReplyDeleteI love these. I am going to get my sons to draw me and each other to see what I get. They all love a good draw although one draws star wars battles all the time and the other one football matches and F1. I could be a Jedi, up front for Arsenal or Jensen Button!
ReplyDeleteOf course you are still a princess, your crown just wobbles sometimes. I've lost mine. It fell off!
ReplyDeleteI am loving that last piccy. You may have a budding artist in your midst....
Love RMxx
Josie - Oh I do have wings sweetie - I'm an angel and a princess all rolled into one! And yep, blue eyeshadow on a daily basis...what's wrong with that??! ;-) xx
ReplyDeleteLiz - Hee hee. Yes, you're probably right! It is a little, er...over-the-top!! I shall keep them forever and remember just how fashionable I once was!
Charlotte - Oh sweetie pie, but you could still be a dancer. Never give up on your dream!! If that's what you really want, I'll support you ;-) xx
Catharine - It's funny because I didn't know that but when I saw her picture I thought that must be the case (and not because I am, in fact, double the size of my husband)! But yes, now you've confirmed it as well it totally makes sense. Kind of sweet really...
Mamma Po - D'you know what? She's so prolific with her drawing that I just can't frame them all. Besides, they'd be no space left on the walls for 'real' art!! Hee hee. But yes, they are gorgeous and here on my blog forever!
Met Mum - What do you mean? Surely electric blue eye shadow is all the rage, isn't it? ;-) x
ReplyDeleteSelina - Oh I know - I tried to stop her from drawing me in all my glory - and I am so talented at dancing, but she just couldn't help it!! Mummy equals beautiful hair and dancing. So hard to escape! And thank you for the thank you!!! Will pop over asap. You're fab xxx
Sparx - I think you'll find it's spelt Rorschach (cough - but only because I googled it)!! But yes, Edie's little offering is somewhat similar I think...But very sweet!
Mwa - I know - it's a fab meme isn't it. Reason I didn't tag anyone else is because Tara was trying to round up entries to make a collective post asap, but maybe I should just keep tagging anyway. Sounds like people want to do it anyway!
ThatGirl - Hee hee. Yes, I'm a Princess and Fairy all rolled into one. Dress is from imagination - Renée's favorite shop! x
magnumlady - I know - so cute. Might have to get them to do some more!
ReplyDeleteLady Mama - yes - the cat - well we do actually have a black cat so I'm guessing it's that. Thing is, I asked her to draw a picture of me and she did one of the whole family and I said 'no - just me' and she drew one of me and a cat (you see - I can't ever be alone in her eyes)!!
BiB - I know - it's a fab meme isn't it? Reason I didn't tag anyone else is because Tara was collecting them all up to do a collective post so I thought I'd leave it, but maybe I should continue tagging - seems that people really want to do it!
A Modern Mother - I know - I will. Have soooo many drawings to keep though - the whole house is a picture. She's way too prolific!
Maddie - Oh no - that doesn't sound good! Will pop on over and see if you're ok. Hugs xxx
Reasons - Yes I will (she says - frantically trying to remember where she actually has put them)!! x
ReplyDeleteRosie - Yes I love that one too. We're all different-sized versions of the same person!!
Confessions - Yep - totally - it's so cute when they have absolutely no idea how old you are. Edie's turning 3 next week so maybe she'll think that I'm 4 now...!
SAHM-I-AM - Aah - such a lovely thing to say - but yes, it's amazing when they can start drawing (and writing) properly. They do amaze me on a daily basis. I shouldn't think you've got much longer left to wait! xx
Family Planning - Yep - that's what yo get with boys I think!! I took my 5-year-old round to a friend's house the other day (she has a boy of the same age) and there were three girls. the girls just sat down and did drawing and colouring while the boys raced around the house trying to hit each other with their lightsabers. She couldn't believe it!
RM - Oh you're so right honey - it's still here - just teetering at a funny angle a bit!!
x
All you 'drawing' pictures analysis is getting me thinking; when I was pregnant with our 4 month old, our three year old was always drawing pictures of Mummy with a big tummy, Mummy lying down resting, Mummy getting sick (that was fun), but as the months wore on, Mummy slowly but surely moved from centre stage and is now currently replaced by Daddy, Mummy is still in the picture but Daddy is central (or he was two weeks ago) and her sister is always near Mummy...all very logical really!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous - All very interesting. Yes, I'd like to see more pictures as the girls get older (and if we had another child - although I don't think that's going to happen)!! But when did Daddy replace Mummy in your child's picture as the centrepiece? Would be interesting to find out...
